The Shroud

Biography

J'ocasta was born in a small Keeper village in The Black Shroud. This went long unknown to her, however, as when she was just a toddler her village was raided by bandits. Her parents hid her to keep her safe, but they tragically lost their lives.A young Seeker named J'kayah Tia would eventually come exploring the Shroud from neighboring Gyr Abania, and find the poor toddler in the remains of her village, nearly starved to death. The only shred of information he could find was a crude locket that had not yet had a portrait placed within, with "Our Sweet Ocasta" engraved on the back.

The Peaks of Gyr Abania

J'kayah brought Ocasta back to his village hidden in the Peaks, near Ala Ghiri, where the tribe agreed to adopt her, giving her the clan forename J'ocasta, and determining that her surname would be taken from her rescuer, as she was not actually bred by the acting Nunh. She grew up as a Seeker, but more and more often questioned why she looked different from her brothers and sisters in the tribe. When she came of age, J'kayah decided to tell her the truth of her origins, which she took well enough. She was mostly relieved to know why she always felt different.

Gridania

After the Battle of Cartineau, J'ocasta left the Peaks, with the reluctant blessings of her adopted tribe. She decided to return to the Shroud and find her place.J'ocasta would spend the next several years in Gridania, keeping up on her martial training with the Lancer and Archery Guilds, and taking odd jobs from Mother Miounne assisting Adventurers throughout Eorzea in their endeavors.J'ocasta became acquainted with an Adventurer working out of Ul'dah named Kino Reinhardt. She would run odd jobs for him, procuring materials and selling his boons at market. She eventually took an official position as the Office Manager for his and his adventuring partner's burgeoning mercenary business.

Abilities

J'ocasta learned to hunt during her time in Ala Ghiri with the J Tribe, becoming adept with the Bow & Arrow, and how to fight with her fists using Claws and Hora. When she relocated back to Gridania, she continued her bowmanship instruction under the Archery Guild and decided to also study with the Lancer's Guild. She's also maintained her Pugilism training, making it her primary form of combat.J'ocasta's main focus, however, skews toward more business and procurement endeavors. Her strongest abilities lie in the realm of communication, analysis, and organization.

Concealed Arms

While J'ocasta would prefer to avoid open combat whenever possible, she's not so naive as to think it's just that easy to do. She knows full well that even the streets of the city-states can be dangerous given the right circumstances, as can the roads between them that she needs to traverse for the company's professional endeavors. To make sure she's always ready to defend herself, she keeps a pair of tortoiseshell knuckles tucked into her waist no matter what she's wearing, be it her adventuring gear, her casual wear, club attire, dress clothes, or even her swimsuit. J'ocasta is ready to throw hands should the need arise.

RP Hooks

• Seeing as J'ocasta clearly has the tail, eyes, teeth, and ears of a Keeper, it's not unreasonable for other characters to point it out if they hear her refer to herself as a Seeker. Being that she's aware of her true biological heritage, this wouldn't cause any major issues.• While J'ocasta would prefer to live a peaceful life kicking back in the Chocobros Contracting office, she is aware that Eorzea can be a dangerous place, and working for a pair of adventuring mercenaries also invites danger. So she is no slouch when it comes to keeping up her martial training, and wouldn't be opposed to discussing as much.• Upon hearing the suggestion from the trio's favorite bartender at Club Red Moon, J'ocasta has begun giving serious consideration to hiring additional adventurers into the company to expand the business and grow their opportunities for jobs and revenue. Specifically, J'ocasta has become interested in hiring Healers for the business, instead of always relying on the Healers who may or may not be available at the Free Company Estate within which the business rents their current office.
